About The Moving Toolkit

The Moving Toolkit is a collection of free tools for the small decisions that pile up before a move: which boxes to buy, how much money to set aside, and what to do next.

It is built for people planning their own move. The budget examples use US dollars and US moving scenarios. It is not a moving company, booking service or source of personalized quotes.

These plans save in your browser on this device. There is no account or automatic sync to another phone or computer. Download a copy if you want to keep it elsewhere.

What the numbers mean

The calculators use planning assumptions. They have not been calibrated against a representative survey of completed moves. Box counts cannot replace checking your cupboards; a budget allowance cannot replace a written quote.

Tool pages explain their assumptions and let you adjust the result. Guide examples are illustrative unless a first-hand record is explicitly identified. External references support the specific guidance they accompany, rather than every number on a page.

The Moving Toolkit is maintained as a website project. No professional mover or independent expert review is claimed. Our editorial policy explains the use of AI assistance, sources and revision dates.

If a result does not match your situation, send a correction with the tool name, the relevant assumptions and what differed. Please leave out addresses, payment details and other private information.
